Artist Bio

Linda Anderson was born in Oliver BC and raised in the Okanagan Valley. She is a member of the Osoyoos Indian Band. Linda and her husband Martin of 45 years live in Oliver. They have 1 daughter, 2 sons and 8 grandchildren.

Linda is an entirely self taught artist and has loved art since childhood. The unmistakable passion Linda feels for the natural world emerge visibly in her artwork, as does her pride in her ancestral heritage. Her medium is acrylic painted on objects such as rock, stone, pebbles, slate, wood, skulls, bone, natural hide drums, canvas and feathers.

“I incorporate the use of pictographs in some of my art work to convey a sense of history with the natural world through the passage of time. They are a connection to my ancestors and their relationship to nature.

My love for wildlife feels timeless.”

Hand painted feathers are Linda’s specialty. She has been painting on feathers for over 20 years. Her patience and attention to detail are evident in the beautiful images she creates on nature’s delicate canvas. Items such as beads, shells, horse hair, rabbit fur, antler, handmade papers, and small decorative feathers are used to complement and finish unique one of a kind art pieces. Unlike many paintings, which are best viewed from a distance, these intricate pieces are best viewed up close and personal. Many viewing her feather artwork for the first time compliment the detailed artwork, then exclaim in surprise, seeing the feather second.  Linda’s unique feather creations are owned by collector's throughout Canada, the U.S. & overseas.

If you are in the South Okanagan you can usually find Linda's artwork at Nk'Mip Cellars Winery in Osoyoos. Two of her paintings have been the label art of the award winning wine Mer'r'iym since 2010.
